Prismatical blanket

IMG_1836

The rhombus shaped granny square/diamond opens up a whole new dimension to blanket making, it can be organised in so many different shapes and directions. For the Prismatical blanket I have aligned the diamonds in a chevron like pattern, and made a rainbow pattern that becomes broken up as if through a prism. A downloadable full version of the pattern is available trough LoveKnitting here (affiliate link) which includes both written pattern in US and UK terminology, charted pattern and schematic over the colours + a blank template for your own colour design!

I made the blanket with 80 diamonds, but you can make more/fewer diamonds or use thinner/thicker yarn to make it into any size.

Joining

Use a crocheted method to join the diamonds, I used a double crochet continuous join. Place the diamonds with alternating direction so it becomes stripes lengthwise and the rows become chevron like.

The border is made with one round of V-stitch: *(tr,ch,tr) into same stitch, skip the next stitch, repeat from *.
